Good news. Ashley does not have to go back to Chicago this Friday. The procedure she was going to have is available here in Fort Wayne.
Ashley’s temporary quarters in our home are getting more civilized. She how has a real floor under her and drapes rather than sheets dividing the rooms for privacy. With the balance of her furniture coming in this week she will be all settled in.
Ashley has adapted well to being home. We continue to be encouraged by the therapy staff Ashley is now seeing here in Fort Wayne. The only significant milestone this last week is that Ashley coordinated both a leg and arm and turned her self from her back to her side. Similar to her first spoken word a week before, we have not witnessed a repeat of this, but it is further evidence that Ashley continues to expand her fine motor skill ability. The best news since we have been home is that Ashley continues to progress and has not taken any steps back.
Ashley’s ability to communicate via her ‘Yes’ button has been the greatest blessing so far. It confirms that she is aware of her surroundings and able to make choices. She chooses her clothes in the morning, selects what she has for her eating exercises. Tells us if she wants to listen to music, watch a movie, hear a story, or simply wants some peace and quiet.
We continue to be humbled by all the love, prayers and support that continue to come our way. You all remain an inspiration that helps us keep our focus on aiding Ashley as she continues to recover.

Ashley--
Hey girl hey! (That's my new saying... Picked it up and ran with it!) What good news to hear you don't have to go back to Chicago. I'm so happy you're home, that's wonderful.
I have a bit of good news for you (or rather... I think it is!)-- I'm coming home this weekend! I can't wait to see you. It's been way too long, I miss you so much. I can't wait to see for myself all of the wonderful milestones you've surpassed. Your strength and determination is incredibly inspiring... I know you've heard that a lot, but trust us, Ashley, we really mean it when we say that. We can tell you're putting up a good fight, and you're doing great!
I have random things to share with you, and maybe I'll snatch one of Ma's PEOPLE magazines. I'm hoping to visit Saturday morning. I don't know what the weather will be like, but if it's good enough, we could maybe go for a walk... or watch a movie, or gossip about celebrities... whatever you'd like! I will be happy just to be with you. :)
I love you, Ashley Marie.
XoXo,
Emily

"Well, really, Mr. Ehinger, the truth is, if you ever 'had' us, it was only the first quarter. Because after that, second quarter we eagerly await Christmas Break. Third quarter it's Spring Break. and fourth quarter... we're graduating. So you really lost the chance to have our full attention..."
"So to my complete surprise it was a middle-aged black woman, and I thought to myself... Well, that's not Emily!"

Harringtons,
We will keep praying every day for Ashley's continued success and health, and for your peace of mind and strength. We are so excited that you are back in Fort Wayne. We know that being back home will allow Ashley to continue her successful therapy in her own comfortable surroundings!
Welcome home!

Yeah Ashley! It's so exciting to hear the new things you have accomplished. Everyday people around me ask about you and your family. I love to share the good news about the progress you are making. Did your dad tell you that Angela is getting a cat? I don't know how I got suckered into it, it just happened. Angela wants to know if you would like us to bring her for a visit? I can see your dad right now deleting this part of my message. Angela got straight A's on her report card (might be the reason for the cat) and says she is going to be as smart as her cousins when she grows up. I hope so. We love you. See you soon. Aunt Lynn
HI Ashley
This is Uncle Dave - Talked to your dad this week and he said you are really liking being home. Sounds like it with all the progress you are making. We also get a lot of our friends asking about you and are really happy to say that there is good progress. We will head up there to see you soon. Love you
Uncle Dave and Aunt Kathy
P.S. Can't believe Lynn gave in to Angela for Cat.
Dear Ashley, even though you don't know us, the Seifert family in Indianapolis thoughts and prayers are with you. I have known your Folks, Grandparents, Aunts, and Uncles for many years and the Harrington family is one of the nicest familys I have ever met. I know how thrilled they must be that you are home. Say hello to all your family for us!
Miss Ashley,
It was so good visiting with you yesterday! I hope you and your mom are picking out a good movie for us to see! I'm sitting in the USF library waiting for educational psychology and measurement to begin! Doesn't that class sound so much fun!? haha! Even the name sounds yucky, well because it pretty much is. I went to my school today to see what I got myself into! haha! My class is 3rd and 4th grade combined for a total of 17 kids! So the most students I will have at one time is 9! I am so excited..we can make little projects! Oh it will be fun with a small group! I also went to the trainer who successfully heated my back today, yes he stepped it up from the ice this time, so I know you will be pleased with him!
And so much for that 3-4 inches of snow huh! boo Fort Wayne weather!
Next time, I come over we can continue our Office marathon...I bet Austin will be happy!
Luv U to the moon and all the way back again! XOXOXO

Hey Ashley!!!
It was so so SO great to see you at Meijer this past weekend, I was so happy I ran into you and your Mom. I am so moved and happy about the incredible milestones you've conquered, you have always had the strongest work ethic, perseverence, and determination. I really hope you enjoyed your first outing and I bet you are so excited for future ones!! I am just so incredibly happy you are home and enjoying the comfort of your family and friends nearby. I saw that you went to see "P.S. I Love You" that is such a great movie, I really enjoyed it as well!! The next time I see you, we will share memories from Latin class and quote Doc's famous sayings. I am going to steal Emily's idea and share a few favorites...
"Indubitably!!"
"Birds Eye View in a Nutshell"
"Discipuli!!!"
"Take a Seat, stay a while.."
Now that's just a preview, there's more to come!!
I love you forever sweeheart and you are in my daily thoughts and prayers,
Erika R.
Dear Ashley,
We are home and had a great time. We thought about you alot while on vacation. Everyone I went on vacation with is tan. Not me I used 30 sunscreen, Uncle Craig said it looks like I went to Minnesota!! I plan on visiting around Feb 15th with Grandma and Grandpa. I can't wait to see you. Aunt Lynn and I are hoping your parents will let us hang with you the weekend of March 1st. I am hoping Alex and Jessica can get off work and join us. I guess there is a party planned for the Harrington house that weekend (don't tell your parents). Can you believe Aunt Lynn let Angela have a cat? I talked to Aunt Lynn yesterday and she said the cat was throwing up-I was laughing so hard. Been there done that!!!!! I'm so glad you are getting situated at home. Your dad said the therapist are wonderful. You keep up the good work and I will see you soon. Much love Aunt Beth, Uncle Craig, Alex and Jessica
